“I help people make sense of what’s happening inside, especially when the old ways stop working.. ”

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor, and I bring over two decades of coaching experience into my therapeutic work with women. Throughout my career I have supported women through pressure, transition, emotional overload, and the quiet overwhelm that so often goes unnoticed. My counselling work across charities, community services, and NHS settings has given me a deep understanding of grief, health challenges, caring roles, ageing, and the many layers of responsibility women hold throughout their lives. This blend of experience allows me to sit with both the emotional and the practical, offering a steady and grounded presence when life feels tangled, demanding, or simply too much.
I currently work from House Seven in Tynemouth with Therapy North, with the option of sessions in Newcastle City Centre. I also offer online and telephone counselling for women who prefer the comfort of home or need more flexibility. You can explore my gallery for photographs of the therapy spaces and a sense of what it might feel like to be there.

Clients often come to me when they’re navigating:
Overwhelm or burnout
Processing trauma, including its impact on the body, relationships, and sense of self, in a grounded and attuned way.
Fertility Challenges and reproductive journeys
Grief and or bereavement that doesn’t fit neatly into words
Complex family issues/dynamics
Identity shifts, transitions, or “who am I now?” moments which may create low confidence and low self esteem
The physical echoes of stress, anxiety and depression
Navigating the emotional impact of health changes, symptoms, or long-term conditions
Neurodivergence- the relief, the questions, and the historic emotional echoes that can come with understanding yourself as ADHD, Autistic, or AuDHD, whether this has been known for years or is only now coming into focus.
And many other complex mental‑health experiences and human emotions that can be hard to name....
My approach is warm, steady, and collaborative. I don’t rush or push. We work at your pace, with curiosity and compassion, finding language for what has felt unsayable.

I am a person centred and integrative therapist, which means I draw from several approaches, humanistic, relational, psychodynamic and creatively it simply comes down to what you need.
In simple terms: I help you understand your emotional world, reconnect with your steadiness, and grow into a version of yourself that feels more true.
Sessions with me often include:
First and foremost establishing the therapeutic relationship between you and I – it’s the foundation of our work together
Gentle mapping of emotions and physical sensations
Exploring patterns with kindness rather than judgement
Creative or metaphor based ways of understanding your experience
Grounding techniques that help you feel more present and safe
You don’t need to arrive with the “right words.” We can find them together.

Our sessions are calm, spacious, and attuned.
The rooms are modern, light, comfortable and highly confidential
You can bring the messy, the uncertain, the painful, the hopeful and all of it is welcome, simply put there are no expectations, you may not know what to bring and that's ok too - we will work through it.
My role is to help you feel understood, supported, and more connected to yourself.
Your first session - Often the most daunting so here is what to expect;
Your first session is a gentle introduction to working together.
We’ll take some time to explore what’s bringing you to counselling and complete an initial assessment so I can better understand your needs.
We may begin to identify your goals, but this can also unfold over time, goals often shift as therapy progresses, and that’s completely normal.
We’ll also go through the therapy contract, privacy policy, confidentiality, and practical details such as contact information.
Think of this session as us laying the foundations, you setting out what you’re carrying, and me setting out how I can support you. It’s the first building block in the work we’ll do together.
Ongoing expectations
Over time, clients often describe feeling clearer, steadier, and more able to confidently make choices that honour their needs.
There is strong evidence that counselling can be deeply beneficial and supportive, but it isn’t a one‑size‑fits‑all process. We’ll regularly check in on how things are feeling for you, reflect on any changes, and make sure the work is genuinely supporting your needs.
